''We Will Never Forget''

Delaware Gold Star Families Day 2010

The event brought families together over a brunch, and more than 50 gathered at Bellevue Mansion for Gold Star Families Day. It was held to honor Delaware families of fallen soldiers. Gov. Jack Markell and Lt. Gov. Matt Denn created the honorary day in 2009 to recognize the sacrifices of military families.
To unite the families in Delaware, Judy C. Campbell and the Vietnam Veterans of America Chapter 83 created the Delaware Hometown Heroes Banner Program which took banners of each of the fallen servicemen on a tour around the state in 2008. The banners included the name, rank, hometown, age, date of death, unit and military branch of each service member killed, along with a picture or other emblem.
